Fundraising events in 2011

During 2011, our leisure centres raised £11,250 for local charities. Details of our fundraising events are below.


Worthing Churches Homeless Projects - December 2011

During November and December, Worthing Leisure Centre were fundraising for the local charity Worthing Churches Homeless Projects, and we managed to raise £101.45

 Children in Need - 18th November 2011

 Our Creche team raised £270 and the Amazon raised £50 for Children in Need.

Well done to everyone in the Creche and special thanks to Sue and Adele for organising it.


Poppy Appeal - November 2011

During the first week of November, Worthing Leisure Centre raised £98.78 by selling poppies for the Royal British Legion.

"Wear It Pink" fundraiser - October 2011  

 

Worthing Leisure Centre organised a fundraising event on 28th October. Special thanks go to Jules Gill for organising this event and to all staff members and customers who helped to raise £77 for Breast Cancer Campaign.


"Save the Children" - August to October 2011

 

Worthing Leisure Centre organised a fundraising action for the East Africa Crisis Apeal. Between August and October, we managed to raise £180 for Save the Children. http://www.justgiving.com/Help-East-Africa


"Love your hospital" appeal - July 2011

 

In the last few weeks, the Aquarena has been raising money for the new children’s Accident and Emergency department at Worthing hospital. During July it raised over £2,200. Special thanks go to Pete Eldridge.


 St Barnabas "Night to Remember" - 18 June 2011Night to Remember

 

 

 A team of 11 ladies from Worthing Leisure Centre took part in the Night to Remember Midnight Walk and raised over £1,100 for St Barnabas. Thanks to everyone who contributed and to the staff who gave up their time to assist throughout the night.

 

This was the 4th Midnight Walk for St Barnabas hosted by Worthing Leisure Centre and thus far over 4500 ladies have taken part, raising in excess of £600,000 for the charity.


Red Nose Day 2011, May 2011

 

The Aquarena organised a cake sale for ‘Red Nose Day’ and raised £152.37.

Swimathon 2011 has raised £1.7million for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Swimathon Foundation. Aquarena's swimmers raised £1,702.07


The Rowland Gibson Charity Swim (formerly The Mayor’s Charity Swim)

Saturday 5 February and Saturday 12 March 2011  

 

Mayors Charity Swim 2011

 

In aid of the Mayor’s Charities: Sussex Air Ambulance, RNLI, Queen Alexandra Hospital Home & Worthing & District Alzheimer’s Society.

47 children attended on 5th February and 86 on 12th March (133 in total). £5,000 were raised for the Mayor's charities.


Open Day at the Aquarena - 30th January 2011

 

Fun time sessions at the Aquarena

Over 800 people took advantage of the fun day at the Aquarena on Sunday  30th January 2011, in aid of the Mayor’s Charities, with £314.69 raised on the day.

There were various free activities: swimming sessions, diving boards and flume, float and inflatable sessions, tours of the plant room and children’s activities.

The open day was also a FIT4 success: over 230 visitors became FIT4 members on the day.
